Achoo! The springtime Friday Five

1. Do you suffer from Spring Fever?

Hm. Never heard it called that, but yes, I guess. The more light and the more warmth we get, the better I feel. (Psychologically--physically, I'm sneezing and rubbing my eyes.) Also, by about April I'm counting down the hours until the end of the semester.

2. Have you ever been twitterpated (infatuated or obsessed. In a state of nervous excitement)?

More or less constantly during my teens, and thank goodness that's over, let me tell you. It was all Too Much, those constant waves of emotion.

3. What does Spring taste like to you?

I think I mentioned my discounted after-Easter candy last week. Delicious!

4. When was the last time you visited an ice cream truck?

Decades ago. I'm not sure I've even seen one since the eighties. That said, food trucks are all the rage here, and although I don't visit as often as I'd like, I got some excellent bibimbap at The Green Bowl a few weeks ago. (I have never been to the other regular visitor, Kommie Pig, but the name always make me laugh-wince. First tragedy, then farce.)

5. Do you know what song your ice cream truck plays?

This sounds like the kind of childhood memory that should still be with me, but it's not. Advertising jingles, yes, TV theme songs, yes, even movie themes, but no ice cream truck melody.

Huh
Over here, it's Greensleeves. I know that tune so well I could sing it for you. ...although I always misremember the actual lyrics.

Huh. That's not something I think of as a Christmas carol at all. It is an old folk tune (It's the alas that sets the tone of it: "alas, you do me wrong to cast me off so discourteously" or something like that) -- but it's something I always think of as a summer tune, along with hearing it for icecream. And, yes, we would occasionally buy ice cream from them, but usually when out somewhere -- I don't remember them driving around our suburbs often.

Kommie Pig advertises smoked mac&cheese and my mind is blown.

I think I've seen an ice cream truck maybe twice in my life. Once it was parked outside the junior high near my house and once I saw one parked next to a park. But I didn't buy anything either time (for one of them, I was already an adult, and the other, I was a kid and had no money).

I think they're more of a suburbs thing maybe, at least for that sort of driving around the neighborhood waiting for kids to come out of their houses thing like you see in fiction. It doesn't make as much sense when you're not cut off from everything and anyone can just walk or ride their bike to the store to buy ice cream anytime they want.

(I have seen Mexican ice cream carts plenty of times, though.)

Ugh, allergies. That is one part of Spring I don't love.

HA! You had the best taste of Spring to date!

We have one around here that looks like it's out of a horror movie. The music system is as bad as the truck. I'm sure there is something nefarious about it.

Thanks for playing!

Look at clowns! 'It' didn't help, either.
