The News Today (Morning Edition) (PG-13/light R, 6,900 words)
Molly Weasley/Arthur Weasley, Minerva McGonagall/Arabella Figg, Augusta Longbottom/Alastor Moody
A thoughtful story about the moral gray area that various characters negotiate on the eve of war. No easy answers, just an exploration of how ordinary people cope with the prospect of violence, intimidation, and extra-legal intervention in the name of a greater good.
The Conjugal State (NC-17, 6,700 words)
Argus Filch/Severus Snape
A charming story in which Filch's domesticity wears down Snape's resistance. With excerpts from a wizarding marital guide! Who can resist that?
The Dog's Days of Summer (NC-17, 11,800 words)
Aunt Muriel/Griphook, Arabella Figg/Arthur Weasley
Yes, you read the pairings correctly. An amazing story, with newly single, grieving Arthur providing the humor and the improbable, almost laughable pairing of Aunt Muriel and Griphook providing the drama. Well-developed points of view (cultures, identities, perspectives), ranging from the imperious Muriel to the quirky, bicultural Arabella to Arthur, who's bemused by a foreign culture he thought he knew and liked, to Griphook, who's as *other* as possible--and yet who gets the girl in the end.
The Dogs of War (PG-13, 11,500 words)
Alastor Moody/Rufus Scrimgeour
A powerful and violent fic about two powerful and damaged men. Really well done.
And the fic written for me!
Loyalty (PG-13, 4,200 words)
Rabastan Lestrange/Regulus Black
A story about families, mentors, lovers, and coming out--addressing, subtly and indirectly, the one thing we know about the loyal son Regulus Black: when it counted, he changed sides.
