I have been enjoying the variety of wonderful Holmes-fandom fics over at
holmestice but have not had a chance to rec my gift here yet--which I want do before reveals tomorrow. I Am the Girl for Her, being a reprint from the reminiscences of Jane H. Watson, is an ACD-era gender swap Holmes/Watson story in which nurse Jane shares a room with the eccentric Shirley at Mrs Hudson's Lodging House for Young Ladies and (naturally!) develops an interest in both Shirley and the odd visitors who seem to call on her at all hours. Rated G with a warning for Ardent Hand Pressing. Thoughtfully calculated to satisfy my long-standing Holmes/Watson desires, but how can anyone resist a story with independent-minded Victorian career women and Ardent Hand Pressing? Charming, slyly funny, and a clever twist on canon.
I have not been here as often as I'd like recently but that will change soon (ready or not!) since grades are due tomorrow. Thank goodness. I've missed you, internet! I think I need to invent a meme to get me to the seventeen posts I promised back in January. Back again soon...
