A friend of mine recent got a job in Sydney, and so the flipped seasons have finally hit home for me. I mean, I've always know, but I've never really believed, if that makes any sense.
Hee. Yes, having a friend complain about the weather does make it more real. I'm the same about cold Christmases. Like, logically, I know they exist for people and they're always on TV, but Christmas to me will always be summer dress weather and sweltering at around 30C and warm mornings.
Did you watch the Kieslowski series? I realized belatedly that was a joke that depended on 90s movie knowledge--or "old movies," as my students say. :)
I did. They were on SBS (government supported multicultural channel -- in other words, where anything with subtitles will get screened) back when I was 15-ish. I remember that Blue was my favourite of the three, but not much more than that. (I've... watched a lot of media since then.)
