That was one I simply couldn't warm up to, especially not after that stunt his buddy pulls at the beginning of the episode. But, well, I just can't find even the smallest soft spot in my heart for a Trump voter, so.
I never watched the original, either -- maybe one episode? To judge by what I've heard from others, it was more gimmicky. This one, for whatever reason, doesn't seem to depend on their queerness except in the way that their development into adult gay men informs their openness and kindness; it's not focused on notions of gay men automatically being stylish and straight men not, if that makes sense.
