Weekly update

I'm back, flist! Have been gone for almost two weeks with two interviews, a conference, and a 48-hour flu. While the conference paper was a huge hit, the interviews were unsuccessful. Really wish that had been the other way around.

Have some cherry blossoms to brighten up your day! I was away for their peak this year, so the photo are all by the better half.

Ah, right, I'd forgotten you're so close by! I'd let the even pass except that the better half just adores the blossoms--it might be one of the highlights of her year, wandering around the tidal basin. But I can see where coming into the city at such a busy time would be a headache! M.

So lovely! We only have the crocuses and early daffodils blooming here.

Sorry to hear that the interviews didn't work out. Any other possibilities on the horizon?

Crocuses and daffodils! You still have the best of the season coming, then.

I'm still waiting to hear about some fellowships and visiting positions, so the year's not completely done. We'll see what happens. I'm still so happy to be back in a city again that I'm fine with another year here--apart from long-term career issues, everything else is going well. Thanks for asking, S. M.

M! I was just thinking about you recently and wondering how things were going. I'm sorry to hear about the interviews (and the flu!). How nice to have a smashing success at a conference to counterbalance a bit, and congratulations on that!

And I was just thinking about you, since I trying to figure out when my next trip to your part of the world will be and was wondering how long you'll be there. At some point our paths will cross!

No luck with the interviews--grrrr, may never find a job at this rate--but one was at my undergraduate institution, which made for an unexpectedly emotionally satisfying experience.

Aren't the photos nice? I forget every year what a lift it is to see color around the city. M.
