This past week has been messy.
* Two feet of snow fell over the weekend. DC is not prepared for this amount of snow all at once. Everything shut down. The sidewalks are impassable. The trash and recycling have not been picked up for five days.
* Two days of school were canceled. My syllabi now need to be redrafted, grrr.
* The temperature has risen just enough to melt some of the snow...which now is freezing over as temps drop again, making the shoveled parts of the sidewalk just as impassable as the unshoveled.
*sigh* I live in an apartment building (no need to shovel) on a major street (which was plowed almost immediately) with frequent bus service (one of the first lines restored to service) and don't own a car (no need to need to dig it out or worry about re-parking it), so I have nothing to complain about, really. Why am I so cranky? I think it's because I was lulled into complacency by December, which was so lovely and mild it almost fooled me into thinking winter was easy.
Hope you're all doing well out there! Apologies for comments still owed--my computer finally died last week, and it's taken me quite a while to get back online again. I still owe you cookie party pictures! That will be a happier post.

Date: 2016-01-29 05:01 am (UTC)I didn't know you lived in ND! I'm not sure I've ever known anyone who lived there. Did you like it--below freezing temps aside?
I can see how just staying cold might help. Hope you're doing well (not too much snow and not too frigid weather)! M.
