Giving
thefridayfive another try this week. Do you know, I had to look up "fate" and "karma" to answer these questions, that's how rarely I think about these things.
1. Do you believe in fate? In the sense that certain things were meant to happen or inevitable? No. But I'm also a deeply anxious and superstitious person, despite what my more logical brain tells me. Subconsciously, do I believe there's something I need to avoid? Does that count as fate? Hm. Mostly, my heart keeps telling me things are always on the verge of going wrong, while my head reassures me it's all fine.
2. If Karma was to visit you now, would it be kind or kick you in the butt? I'd hope it would be kind, because I've been trying hard to do good things for the right reasons. But I haven't always been as successful as I'd like.
3. Do you believe you have lived another life previous to this one? No.
4. What do you believe in with an unshakable resolve? Very little. Death and taxes. Corruption at the top. Tea and coffee make everything a bit better.
5. What one factor influences your life the most? Yikes, this is hard! Let's say sunshine: I find myself in a good mood with it and struggling without it.

Date: 2018-02-21 04:58 pm (UTC)SAD sucks! I can't wait for longer days either. The only good thing about winter is the clothes.

Date: 2018-02-22 12:21 am (UTC)The better half has read all the Tony Hillerman books (sorry, everyone must say that to you) and has plans to do a Southwest trip one day. We'd visit as many sites like this as we could.
My impression is that NM gets cold in the winter but has a shorter winter than the Northeast. Is that true, or did I somehow make that up? M.

Date: 2018-02-22 05:23 pm (UTC)Ha! I've only read one Tony Hillerman and it wasn't really my speed. :D If you and the other half visit, let me know! I'd be happy to host, and I know a bunch of cool places to see. :)
It's actually snowing right now! Yes - we do have cold winters. It's been known to get into the single digits even during the day but that hasn't happened in the last couple of years. It doesn't really get cold until January and then it tends to warm up in March, though spring is not incredibly pleasant; it gets SUPER windy here and because it's so dry, the air is brown with all the dust. It's hell on allergies. But once the wind goes away, it's lovely, sunny, and warm for a long time. We don't get as inhumanly hot as Arizona, though 100+ degree days in the summer are not at all uncommon.

Date: 2018-02-25 09:10 pm (UTC)Windy season! Is your weather like Denver's? My college roommate was from Denver, and I remember being surprised by how varied her weather was--it's neither the all-warm-all-the-time weather of CA nor that East Coast cycle of seasons that's the model for the way we learn about seasons as kids in US schools. Date: 2018-02-26 06:45 pm (UTC)I've never actually been to Denver, so I couldn't compare! I know, it's shameful, but it's a seven hour drive and I have yet to find a concrete reason to drive up there. Some day!
